April 18th Weekly Schedule for AP English Monday, April 18th: Go over the weekend’s reading of MADAME BOVARY (up to page 106). Discussion of determinism. Analysis of and discussion of student response essays to Henry James’ WASHINGTON SQUARE. Go over handout on Friday. Read and analyze the excerpt in terms of the prompt. English Workshop: The Complete Course; “Adverbial Clauses”; pages 177-178; exercise 4. This will be due on Wednesday, April 20th. Tuesday, April 19th: Shortened day! April 11, 2005 Weekly Schedule for AP English Monday, April 11th: Good morning, scholars! The multiple choice questions over “Love’s Diet’ is due today. We will briefly go over it. VERY briefly go over gerunds from the gerund homework from last week. Please bring your grammar book, ENGLISH WORKSHOP: The Complete Course; we are going to do pages 109 - 112; exercises 14, “Chapter Review: exercises a, b, c and d.” This will be due on Thursday, April 14th. Your vocabulary unit 6 will be due today. Check out MADAME BOVARY and I hope we have time to start reading today. Be mindful that we are only going to spend about two weeks on this book. Schedule for Week of April 4th AP Literature Class Good morning scholars! Hope you’re ready for yet another intense week! Monday, April 4th: Continue doing the hot seats for CRIME AND PUNISHMENT! Briefly go over some essay writing points such as: sentence fragments and run-ons, etc. Check out the vocabulary book AND the grammar book! Yippee! Assign Unit 7 (or whichever it was that we left off at) and briefly go over the vocabulary. This will be due on Monday, April 11th. Tuesday, April 5th: Shortened day! Finish up the hot seats for Crime and Punishment. And finish up any loose ends with Raskolnikov and the gang. Your Crime and Punishment essays are due today. AP ENGLISH Week of March 21st - March 25th Good Morning everyone! Hope you had a great and restful weekend! Now, back to work! Monday, March 21st: Pass out trip slips (I hope) to see Tartuffe at the Actors’ Gang on Wednesday, March 23rd. We will leave Hollywood High at about 9:30 and return at about 1:00 pm. Go over John Keats’ “La Belle Dame Sans Merci” (which some scholars think may be a comment on his own frustration with love.) Also go over elegy and the villanelle form of poetry. Tuesday, March 22nd: Shortened day. We probably won’t have that test over poetry just yet. We should go over the dramatic monologue and do some reviewing over poetry terms. We are going to try for Thursday. Wednesday, March 23rd: If we can get the bus we will see Tartuffe, a Moliere comedy which is playing at The Actors’ Gang.
