Hi guys!

First Period: Please bring your white (well, they're all stained and tattered and torn up) Warriner's grammar book on Monday. We're going to go over some fun grammar stuff. We're also going to do a little bit of Beowulf and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales - not all of it. On Tuesday, I will give you a wee little test on Unit 12 vocabulary. On Wednesday, I will be at an all day theatre workshop but I will return on Thursday! Soon, very soon we will be studying the Bard - Hamlet to be exact.

Second Period: We will go over your very long vocabulary homework on Monday, and we will finish the short story, "By Any Other Name." There will be an essay which I will assign to you on Tuesday, which will probably be due on Friday. On Thursday, which is a minimum day, I will give you a wee test on your much hated vocabulary words. Finish up your outside reading book and don't forget your reading logs! On November 3rd we will start working on the literary analysis. We will also start reading NIGHT for our in-class reading assignment. It's a very intense, very moving account of a young boy's experiences during the Holocaust.

Third & Fifth Period: We are reading "The Cask of Amontillado" right now. Tomorrow I will give you the Amontillado packet. This week is basically Poe Week or Fright Week or what ever else you may want to call it. We will read "The Raven" and talk about Poe - 24/7 - all week long. After that the fun stops for we will begin working on our literary analysis. Bring your book and your reading log on Thursday. We'll start working on it then. And after that, we will begin the wondrous journey home on THE ODYSSEY!

Sixth Period: We will still meet in #509 tomorrow. Perhaps by Tuesday or Wednesday we will be back in #503. Continue working on your monologues and scenes, and writing your bios.
