Homework for tonight: Read two chapters of ALL QUIET. Wednesday, May 30th: Watch the first half hour of “A Very Long Engagement”. Read and discuss ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. Homework for tonight: Read two chapters of ALL QUIET. Thursday, May 31st: Read excerpts from Tim O’Brien’s THE THINGS THEY CARRIED. Read and discus ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. Homework for tonight: Finish reading ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. Friday, June 1st: Read T.S. Eliot’s “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock”. The week of June 4th - 8th we will be in the library doing research for the senior project. There will be a presentation before a small panel of teachers; the date has not been set. The research paper will be due on Monday, June 11th. For the week of June 11th - 15th we will read Albert Camus’ THE STRANG

Begin reading ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. FRIDAY, MAY 25TH: Continue reading and discussing ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. Read excerpts from Tim O’Brien’s THE THINGS THEY CARRIED. A friendly reminder: The last day you can turn in your late work is Friday, May 25th. This means that May 25th is not the due date; it is the last day you can turn in work. Do not be absent on Friday and then expect to turn in the late work on Tuesday, May 29th when you return to school. THE LAST DAY TO TURN IN WORK IS MAY 25TH!
MAY 14TH, 2007 WEEKLY AGENDA FOR AP ENGLISH LITERATURE Monday, May 14th: Break into groups, read, make posters, plan presentations on Vladimir Nabokov’s Lectures on Kafka’s The Metamorphosis. Tuesday, May 15th: Give your presentations on Nabokov’s lectures on The Metamorphosis. Don’t forget your essay(s) over The Metamorphosis. The last essay is a fun, creative essay in which you write from third person point of view of you waking up one morning as a giant vermin of some kind. This essay should be about three pages and modeled after Franz Kafka’s story. Wednesday, May 16th: Read two excerpts from Philosophy and Literature: “Existentialism” by Jean-Paul Sartre and “The Christian Commitment” by Reinhold Niebuhr. For those of you who were not in class when we read “Man Against the Darkness” by W.T. Stace, please read today. We will break into groups and have dueling presentations. The best group wins!
