APRIL 27th - MAY 1st WEEKLY AGENDA FOR AP ENGLISH LITERATURE Monday, April 27th: Please answer the five questions over CRIME and PUNISHMENT. Finish the Nietzsche presentations. Today PHILOSOPHY and LITERATURE will be checked out to you. We will read in class. Read Ernest Hemingway’s “Another Country”. For homework, write two paragraphs analyzing Hemingway’s use of imagery and metaphor to convey mood. This assignment is due on Tuesday. Tuesday, April 28th: Using Hemingway’s style as a model, write two paragraphs describing the mood of a scene through the use of imagery and metaphor. This will be due by 11 am. Begin reading the selection by Jean Paul Sartre and the selection by Reinhold Niebuhr. For homework, do the multiple choice questions. APRIL 20th - APRIL 24th WEEKLY AGENDA FOR AP ENGLISH Monday, APRIL 20th: Please answer the five questions over CRIME and PUNISHMENT. Please be sure to bring your Nietzsche handout with you today. We will break into groups, read the assigned section of the excerpts and then present your section to the class. Tuesday, April 21st: Shortened day! Your essay on CRIME and PUNISHMENT is due today. Please answer the five questions over CRIME and PUNISHMENT. Brief discussion of CRIME and PUNISHMENT. Writing exercise: Read “Another Country” by Ernest Hemingway in PHILOSOPHY and LITERATURE and then using his style of writing, write two paragraphs analyzing Hemingway’s use of imagery to convey mood. APRIL 13th - APRIL 17TH AP ENGLISH Monday, April 13th: Discuss and turn in your multiple choice answers. Turn in your CRIME and PUNISHMENT essay. Go over CRIME and PUNISHMENT readings (pages 130 to 230). Read an additional fifteen pages in CRIME and PUNISHMENT tonight. Don’t forget to work on your Cornell Notes. Tuesday, April 14th: Today we will analyze a prompt from Henry James’ THE PUPIL. The essay for THE PUPIL will be due on Thursday, April 16th. Read and discuss CRIME and PUNISHMENT. Read an additional fifteen pages in CRIME and PUNISHMENT tonight. Don’t forget to work on your Cornell Notes. Finally, please read the accompanying excerpt from CRIME and PUNISHMENT, and write a minimum two page essay.
