Monday, November 27th:   In the play Death of a Salesman, the Loman family struggles with honesty, trustworthiness, and praises each other on toxic actions withholding the truth , bullying, and abusive relationships. The toxicity of their family was once what kept them together and now it is the thing that is tearing them apart. Toxic means deathly, unhealthy, injurious to health, poisonous, lethal, dangerous Toxins can rot, erode, corrode, can cause cancer Corrode: corrosive Corrosive relationship Cancerous What are some of the corrosive things Willy taught his sons – that stealing was fine as long as you are “likeable”. Monday, November 13th: Analyze Sonnet 73 Vocabulary:  An elegy is a poem, which is bemoaning the loss of something or the passing of someone. A eulogy is a speech given at a funeral to praise and to commemorate the passing of a person. Monday, November 6th:  ENGLISH LITERATURE AND COMPOSITION FREE-RESPONSE QUESTIONS Question 3 (Suggested time—40 minutes. This question counts as one-third of the total essay section score.) In many works of literature, past events can affect, positively or negatively, the present actions, attitudes, or values of a character. Choose a novel or play in which a character must contend with some aspect of the past, either personal or societal. Then write an essay in which you show how the character’s relationship to the past contributes to the meaning of the work as a whole. Please use Death of a Salesman for your essay.
