WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR 9TH GRADE HONORS CLASS NOVEMBER 29TH Good morning, scholars! Hope your Thanksgiving vacation was fun, frolicsome and festive. Now back to work! Monday, November 29th: 1st Period: We will set sail today and begin The Trojan War Adventure, parts 1, 2, 3, and 4. Your exercise 2 on your verb handouts is due. Please go on to exercise 3 in the same handout. 6th Period: I will give you back your rough drafts. Your final drafts with your reading logs will be due on Wednesday, December 1st. Tuesday, November 30th: 1st Period: We will continue working on The Trojan War, parts 1, 2. 3, and 4. 1st and 6th Period: Please bring your English Workshop. I will assign page 167 - 168; the oh so fun ”Noun Clauses”. WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR AMERICAN LITERATURE NOVEMBER 29TH Good morning, Scholars! I hope your Thanksgiving celebration was festive and fun! Now back to work! We are heading down the homestretch now! Monday, November 29th: Unit 5 in your beloved Vocabulary Workshop will be due today! The test will be this Friday, December 3rd. We will finish reading The Crucible. We will do a hot seat so get your questions ready. Tuesday, November 30th: Today we will meet in the library so that you can meet with your counselor. Finishing up The Crucible. We will go over the compare and contrast essay over a character of your choosing and her/his foil in the story. This fun little assignment will be due on Tuesday, December 7th. It should be typed and must have a rough draft attached. Monday, November 29th: Today I will be given - well, actually both of us will be given - a respite because the lovely Ms. Judy Campbell will be walking you through the steps of the all important financial aide applications. In this time of budget cutbacks this is REALLY important to you so please show up and be attentive! I, however, will be feverishly at work grading papers and writing letters of recommendations. Unit 4 in your beloved Vocabulary book will be assigned. Do we really have to go over it in class? Well, bring the book on Tuesday and we’ll go over it really fast. 9TH GRADE HONORS ENGLISH WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR NOVEMBER 22ND MONDAY, NOVEMBER 22ND: First Period: Hand back persuasive essays. Go over the first paragraph. Begin the Trojan War. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23RD: First Period: We will go over the second paragraph of the persuasive essay. We will go over citing sources, concessions and rebuttals. WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR AP ENGLISH LITERATURE NOVEMBER 22ND Monday, November 22nd: Finish reading Beowulf. “The Battle with Grendel’s Mother”, “The Fight with the Fire Dragon”, and “The Burning of Beowulf’s Body”, pages 27 - 29 in Adventures in English Literature. Perhaps read a brief excerpt from the “The Battle with Grendel’s Mom.” Briefly go over fun grammar homework! (Warriner’s Grammar; “Verbals”, pages 64 - 68.) Vocabulary test, Units 1 - 3 Review. Tuesday, November 23rd: Brief over view of Geoffrey Chaucer, his life, and the medieval period. We will read “The Canterbury Tales” (pages 57 to 86). Handout on parallelism. This will be due on Monday, November 29th. Wednesday, November 24th: Finish reading (I hope!) Chaucer and perhaps read a few sweet poems from the 8th Century, A.D. You need to run through your scene in its entirety four times with your partner with movement. WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR AMERICAN LITERATURE NOVEMBER 15TH, 2004 Monday, November 15th: Good morning, scholars! I have finished grading your persuasive essays. I will briefly go over some basic concepts in writing, and then I will return your essays. If you scored a “C” or lower on your essay, then you must rewrite it. We will then finish reading the second act of Arthur MIller’s The Crucible. Be aware that grades are due at 7:30 Tuesday morning. If you have not taken the Unit Four Vocabulary test then you need to take it today! So study for it so you will get a good grade! WEEKLY AP ENGLISH SCHEDULE FOR NOVEMBER 15Th Monday, November 15th: Good morning, scholars! Your Units 1 through 3 vocabulary review is due today. We will go over the homework briefly; then I have an excerpt from Percy Shelley and some multiple choice questions to go along with it - for fun! I might start a brief - oh, so very brief - lecture over the history of the English language. I hate to be a bearer of bad tidings, but grades are due tomorrow at 7:30; that means if you have any thing you need to turn in, you should turn it into today for after tomorrow it won’t be of much help to you on this grading period. Tuesday, November 16th: Try to contain your excitement, but I and other English teachers will not be here today. So instead, you will be shown a fascinating DVD on yup, you guessed it, a brief history of the English language.
