Pass out excerpt from The Things They Carried for selection of detail Read, discuss, change the items the soldiers carry, discuss how changing the items the soldiers carry change our perception of the soldiers A volunteer will empty the contents of her/his backpack and the class will discuss how the contents reveal the person's character, personality.
