Monday, October 3rd:

Tuesday, October 4th:
Perrine's; "You're Ugly, Too"; pages 370 - 371; questions 1 - 7 due today
Two handouts from Voice Lessons on "Selection of Detail" will be assigned.

Wednesday, October 5th:
The essay"Eleven" from Sandra Cisnero's The House on Mango Street  is due today.
Pass out excerpt from The Things They Carried for selection of detail
Read, discuss, change the items the soldiers carry, discuss how changing the items the soldiers carry change our perception of the soldiers
A volunteer will empty the contents of her/his backpack and the class will discuss how the contents reveal the person's character, personality.
For homework:
Create a brief description (minimum of one paragraph each, half a page each) of two characters (the characters can be students, professionals, a music star, a hired assassin, your call)  based on what s/he carries.
This will be due on Thursday, October 6th.

Thursday, October 6th:
