First period: Your final will be a compare and contrast essay on two novels or two short stories. It wil be due on Tuesday, June 24th. I will allow one final make-up for the following four essays only - they are: 1. "Another Country" 2. "The L.A. Notebook" by Joan Didion 3. " Man Against the Darkness" by W.T. Stace 4. THE GREAT GATSBY These will be due on Friday, June 13th. Sorry, I won't accept them on the 16th or thereafter. These essays are already about a month late as they are and this is an attempt to help you pass this class at least with a C. Your Unit 9 vocabulary is due this Tuesday, June 10th. 2nd - 3rd Period: Your final will be a literary analysis of TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD. You will work on your rough draft in class and you will turn in each paragraph to be graded by me.You will receive two grades per paragraph - one for writing, the other for content. First Period (AP English): Please read "The Bear" by Faulkner over the weekend. Also, you may want to start working on Unit 9 in your vocabulary books. On Tuesday, please bring your grammar book and your vocabulary book. 9th Grade Honors: You will have a vocabulary test on Tuesday over pages 61 - 68. Please bring your grammar book on Tuesday as well. I will only give you about 20 minutes on the test. We need to keep reading To Kill a Mockingbird. For your final you will do a literary analysis on Mockingbird - much like you did last semester on your outside reading assignment. Keep working on your reading log. It is a major grade! 9th Grade Regular: Same as the Honors class but your analysis will be on Always Running. Keep track of your reading log. It is a major grade. Acting: On Monday, those scenes (Emanuel & Ivan, Clarence & Andrew) that were suppose to go up on Friday but didn't, will go up on Monday (6/2/03).
