JANUARY 11th WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR AP ENGLISH LITERATURE Monday, January 11th: Your Act 1 open book test will be due today. We will grade this in class. Remember, once we go over this in class you cannot turn it in later. Go over Act Two and watch the video of HAMLET. ASSIGNMENT: Analyze Polonius’ speech to Ophelia in Act 1 for the metaphorical use of money in his description of Ophelia’s worth. What does this figurative language reveal about Polonius’ attitude about women and women’s status in that society at that time? This essay will be due on Thursday, January 14th. Tuesday, January 12th: Continue going over Act 2. Remember, when we finish reading and discussing Act 2, the open book test will be due. Wednesday, January 13th: Please bring your vocabulary book, VOCABULARY WORKSHOP: Level G. Unit Four will be assigned today and will be due on Tuesday, January 19th. DECEMBER 14th - DECEMBER 18th A.P. ENGLISH LITERATURE SCHEDULE Monday, December 14th: We will review the reading of Act 1, Scene 1 in HAMLET last Friday. Continue reading Act One. We will view the dvd of Kenneth Brannagh’s HAMLET. Tuesday, December 15th: “The Adjective Clause” handout is due today. Continue reading HAMLET and viewing the dvd. Wednesday, December 16th: Continue reading HAMLET and viewing the dvd. When we finish reading Act One, the Act One open book test will be due. You cannot turn in the open book test after we have gone over it in class. Thursday, December 17th: Continue reading HAMLET and viewing the dvd. Please bring your VOCABULARY WORKSHOP to class today. Unit 4 will be assigned which will be due when we return in January. Friday, December 18th: Continue reading HAMLET and viewing the dvd. DECEMBER 7th - 11th WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR AP LITERATURE Monday, December 7th: Due to the very tight grading window for the period, all outstanding work (in both senses of the word) are due today. Over the weekend finish reading “Beowulf Slays the Troll; “The Parting of Beowulf and Hrothgar”. Answer questions on page 35, questions 1 - 9; and “Applying: Metaphors”, questions 1, 2 and 3. These questions will be due on Wednesday, December 9th. Tuesday, December 8th: Your questions on page 25; “Think and Discuss”, questions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5; “Analyzing”, questions 6 and 7; and “Extending”, questions 8 and 9 are due today. Your BEOWULF essay (four paragraphs) comparing two of the four translations is due today. Your “Unscrambling Adverbial Clauses” handout is due today.
