WEEKLY SCHEDULE
FOR
AMERICAN LITERATURE
NOVEMBER 29TH

Good morning, Scholars! I hope your Thanksgiving celebration was festive and fun!

Now back to work! We are heading down the homestretch now!

Monday, November 29th:

Unit 5 in your beloved Vocabulary Workshop will be due today! The test will be this Friday, December 3rd.

We will finish reading The Crucible. We will do a hot seat so get your questions ready.

Tuesday, November 30th:

Today we will meet in the library so that you can meet with your counselor.

Finishing up The Crucible. We will go over the compare and contrast essay over a character of your choosing and her/his foil in the story. This fun little assignment will be due on Tuesday, December 7th. It should be typed and must have a rough draft attached.

English Workshop; pages 153 - 154, “Participles and Participial Phrases”; exercises 5 and 6 will be due for those of you who have not done it before.

Wednesday, December 1st:

We will quickly go over English Workshop; pages 155 - 156; “Gerunds and Gerund Phrases: exercise 7. This fun little assignment will be due on Friday, December 3rd.

Okay, you little rebels! Now we are going to do a very brief - and I do mean brief - foray into the “Transcendentalist World of Emerson and Thoreau” which is a nice respite from the rather harsh and forbidding world of the Puritans.

Thursday, December 2nd:

Continue reading about Emerson and Thoreau.

Friday, December 3rd:

A fun little test over Unit 5 in vocabulary. Your grammar homework is also due today. (Look at Wednesday, if you don’t remember.) We will do some finishing up work on Thoreau and Emerson, whom I think you will rather like.

On Monday, we are going to start Toni Morrisson’s The Bluest Eye.
