WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR
NOVEMBER 8TH, 20004
9TH GRADE HONORS
6TH PERIOD

Monday, November 8th:

Today we are going to read a selection for our persuasive essay assessment, (whew, say that ten times fast!) and then take a multiple choice test over the reading selection.

If we have time we will work on our “Cask of Amontillado” handouts over irony and heightened language.

For homework: Work on your “Cask of Amontillado” handouts and a grammar handout I’m going to give you on run-ons and sentence fragments.

Tuesday, November 9th:

Today we are going to write in class a persuasive essay over the selection we read yesterday. Remember, you have to work on it in class. You cannot take it home and it will be due at the end of the period. This is for your district mandated assessment so it’s very important that you are here, ready to do your best and - on time!

For homework: Work on your ”Cask of Amontillado” handouts and yet another grammar handout I will give to you.

Wednesday, November 10th:

Quick review of “Cask of Amontillado” and an even quicker quiz.

Now begins the dreaded literary analysis! Bring your outside reading book, your reading logs, plenty of paper and a blue or black pen.

We will work on the rough drafts of your introductory paragraph, your second paragraph (which is about conflict, theme, point of view, etc.) and your third paragraph (which is about plot or summary). All three will be due by Friday, November 12th.

Thursday, November 11th:

No school today! Yeah! So spend today in gratitude to those brave soldiers who have fought and/or still fighting for the ideals of freedom and democracy.

Friday, November 12th:

The rough drafts of your first three paragraphs will be due. We will work on the rough drafts of your fourth and fifth paragraphs (which is an analysis of an aspect, element or component of the book which you particularly liked) and the final concluding paragraph. The rough drafts of these paragraphs will be due on Monday, November 15th.
