NOVEMBER 8, 2004
WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR
9TH GRADE HONORS
1ST PERIOD

Monday, November 8th:

Persuasive essay assessment.
Read selection and answer multiple choice questions over selection.

Briefly review the mechanics of how to write a persuasive essay.

We are going to try to sneak in as much of the vocabulary and irony section of "The Cask of Amontillado" handouts as possible today, so please bring your "Amontillado" handouts.

For homework: Grammar handouts over sentence fragments and run-ons, and finish the "Cask of Amontillado" handouts on irony and heightened language.

Tuesday, November 9th:

More persuasive essay assessment!
Write a well constructed three to five paragraph persuasive essay. Due at the end of class.

More homework! More grammar handouts over sentence fragments and run-ons.

Wednesday, November 10th:

We will go to room #502 and rewrite our literary analysis on the “Advantage” computer program which will give us automatic feedback on our writing - i.e. spelling, grammar, sentence construction. This will insure that we will make a really good grade on our literary analysis.

At the end of the period, we will do a fast quiz over "The Cask of Amontillado".

More homework! More fun grammar handouts over stuff we really, really need to work on!

Thursday, November 11th:

Veterans Day! No school today! Yeah!

Spend the day in gratitude to those soldiers who have fought and/or still are fighting to insure our freedom.

Friday, November 12th:

Come back to school. Booo! We will go to #502 and finish working on our literary analysis. Today you must turn in your rough drafts (whether you did it the way I asked you to and are all corrected, or not!) your reading logs (and no, I don’t care if they are messy!) and your revised and typed final draft on the “Advantage” computer program.

If we ran out of time on Wednesday and didn't get around to doing the quiz on "The Cask of Amontillado" then we will do it today in #502 after we finish typing up our literary analysis.
