October 18th:

Hi guys! I'm not going to be at school on Monday, so be nice to the sub.

1st Period:

Continue working on your Unit 12 Vocabulary; it will be due on Wednesday. Your Aristotle/Antigone essay will be due on Tuesday.

The prompt for Aristotle is:

Choosing any play you have read, analyze how the play conforms or does not conform to Aristotle's concepts as set forth in THE POETICS.

Also, if you have any outstanding work (and you know what I mean by that!) please get it to me no later than Tuesday! After Tuesday, regardless of how brilliantly it may be written, it cannot help you on your midterm grade.

Second Period: Hi guys! Work in your vocabulary book, pages 90 - 103; exercises 1 - 9. This will be due on Wednesday, October 22nd. Please do pages 151 - 152, the exciting world of adverbial clauses in your ENGLISH WORKSHOP book; exercises 3 & 4. This will be due on Tuesday, October 21st. Read in your anthology books, the excerpt, No News From Auschwitz. And finish up your outside reading book! We will start working on the literary analysis the last week in October.

If you are not happy with your vocabulary test results, then rewrite the words you missed, define the words, and then write grammatically correct sentences using those vocabulary words, and I will raise your test grade one letter.

3rd & 5th Period: Hey guys! Continue working on your compare and contrast essay on "The Necklace" and "Gift of the Magi"; the final draft, along with the rough draft will be due on Tuesday. THERE WILL BE A SMALL QUIZ ON "THE NECKLACE" ON TUESDAY. Review your Necklace notes and packet. Also finish your outside reading book because we will start working on the literary analysis the last week of October. Then, we will start the exciting voyage of THE ODYSSEY before we sail off into Christmas Vacation! (If we have time, we may squeeze in another book).

See you Tuesday!
