First Period: Hi guys! Please read Act 3, sc. 1 in Hamlet for Monday. I want you to make a list of at least three examples of metaphor, simile, personification, and allusion in your reading of Hamlet, Act 3, sc. 1. On Tuesday, you will have a wee small quiz over Act 1 in Hamlet, and perhaps on Thursday another wee small test over Act 2. Peruse Act 2 for some possible questions for the test. I will compile some of the test from some of your questions. Be sure to include the answers

On Monday we will quickly go over Units 10 - 12 Vocabulary Review. We will also analyze Hemingway's "In Another Country" and Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado" in terms of their writing style. Your assignment - due Tuesday - is to write two (2) one paragraph descriptions - one paragraph written in the style of Hemmingway, the other paragraph written in the style of Poe. The paragraph(s) should deal with meeting a friend. Both paragraphs should be about the same subject - only the style is changed. You must also include a description of the setting.

2nd Period: You need to be finished with your analytical essay by Monday. The essay must include all of your corrected paragraphs, your final draft and your reading log.

3rd & 5th Period: You must use this time to finish up your analytical essays. I won't be there on Monday. I am taking my 6th period drama class to see a play at the Ivar Theatre. But I will be there for 6th and I will definitely be there on Tuesday. So please have your analytical essay ready for me on Tuesday. You must include your corrected paragraphs, your reading log and your final draft on Tuesday to get full credit for this major assignment.

6th Period: We are meeting in front of #503 at 10:15 - during nutrition. Grab a bite to eat before we leave, or you can munch on food during our walk. (But you have to dispose of it in a garbage container before we get to the theatre.)
We will walk up Selma to Ivar and we should be there no later than 10:35. The play starts at 11 am. Bring a sack lunch. However, YOU CANNOT EAT OR DRINK IN THE THEATRE! The play SEZ SHE will probably be over at about 1:00 to 1:30. There may be a short question and answer session after the show. We will then walk back to school where we will discuss the show. And no, there will not be pit stops along the way to MacDonald's! So don't even ask!

See you Monday!
