1st and 6th Period:
Continue working on persuasive essays.
Read: “Reasons For and Reasons Against”
“Recognizing Persausive Techniques”
Write: Short Constructive Response
For homework: Look for examples of Generalizations, Either/Or, and “Loaded Language” in television commercials (yes! That’s your homework! Watch t.v.! and/or in print ads.)
Tuesday, October 5th:
Shortened Day!
Vocabulary Homework is due. Pages 15 - 27 in Vocabulary book.
English Workshop homework is due. Pages 163 - 164; exercises 2 and 3; Adjective Clauses.
Go over “Writing the Persuasive Essay.
Wednesday, October 6th:
Journal: Write a short story using ten of your vocabulary words.
Read: “Save the Children”
Work on: “Art of Argument: Evidence and Reasons”

“Planning Your Essay”
“Essay Structure”
Friday, October 8th:
Vocabulary test, pages 15 - 27.
Begin work on the rough draft of your persuasive essay.
Don’t forget to keep reading your outside novel and working on the reading log.
