9th Grade Schedule
for the week of
November 1st
Monday, November 1st:
First Period:
Everyone’s rough draft of her/his third and fourth paragraphs will be due by the end of the period today.
I am going to assign homework over verb tenses today. It will be a handout which I will give you. It’s not in your grammar book. It will be due on Thursday, November 5th.
Tuesday, November 2nd:
Election Day!
Everyone’s rough draft of her/his fifth, sixth and seventh paragraphs due today!
Wednesday, November 3rd:
We will begin working on the assessment of the persuasive essay. We will read, discuss and take a multiple choice test.
Thursday, November 4th:
Today we will work on the persuasive essay. We will have ONE period to write the essay. YOU CANNOT TAKE IT HOME TO WORK ON IT. The persuasive essay will be due at the end of the period. (No pressure, right?)
Friday, November 5th:
If all goes according to plan - and it never does - I will be finished grading your rough drafts which I will promptly return to you. You will then take the rough drafts home over the weekend, rewrite them incorporating the corrections I have written on your rough drafts, and return them to me on Monday. On Monday (November 8th), you will turn in your rough drafts, your final draft and your reading log. And at long last, you will be finished with the horror that is the literary analysis.
If you finish earlier than that - great! Congratulations!
On Friday, November 5th, we will relax a little and read a fun short story by Edgar Allen Poe entitled “The Cask of Amontillado”. On Monday we will go over more irony (is that not ironic?) and on Tuesday, we will have a wee small test over “The Cask of Amontillado”. Finally we will start “The Odyssey” on Wednesday, November 10th!
