Begin work on persuasive essay format. Read pro and con arguments for the land mine ban treaty.

Shortened Day! Yeah!
Read student sample for the persuasive essay.
Analyze format for the persuasive essay.
Read Jonathan Edwards’ “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”
Wednesday, October 13th:
Briefly revisit persuasive essay format.
Discuss topics for persuasive essays. You get to choose one!
Rough and final draft of your persuasive essay will be due Tuesday, October 19th.

Brief discussion of persuasive essay topics and format.
Break into collaborative groups, analyze Edwards’ rhetorical devices and make presentations to class.
Please bring English Workshop to class. Pages 153-154; “Participles and Participial Phrases”; due Tuesday, October 19th.
Friday, October 15th:
Brief discussion of persuasive essay topics and format.
Continue making presentations on Jonathan Edwards’ rhetorical devices.
Please bring your vocabulary book. Unit 4 will be assigned. Unit 4 will be due on Wednesday, October 20th.
