Tuesday, October 12th:

Shortened Day!

Journal: Have you ever lied? When do you lie? Do you lie to save face or to prevent hurting someone’s feelings?
If we have time, we will do a “word study” on the vocabulary words on page 23-25.

Wednesday, October 13th:

Vocabulary test over pages 23-25 in your vocabulary book.
Please bring your English Workshop; pages 165-166; exercises 4 & 5; “The Adverb Clause”. It will be due Friday, October 15th.
Begin work on a creative scene or monologue based on “The Necklace.”


Thursday, October 14th:

Continue working on scene or monologue based on “The Necklace”.
Read “The Gift of the Magi”.
Discussion of the use of irony in both short stories, “The Necklace” and “The Gift of the Magi.” Compare and contrast the two characters.


Friday, October, 15th:

Go over English Workshop; pages 165-166; exercise 4 & 5; “The Adverb Clause”.
Work on compare and contrast essay using “The Necklace” and “The Gift of the Magi”.
