Schedule for the week of October 25th

6th Period:

Monday, October 25th:

We'll have a wee, small test over "The Necklace" which will focus on vocabulary, comprehension, irony and theme, and a short one-paragraph essay. The essay will be concerned with the "narrator writing that Madame Forestier's response to Mathilde's late return of her necklace was "frosty". The question is - was the perceived "frostiness' actually something else?" We will then read O. Henry's "The Gift of the Magi".

Tuesday, October 26th:

We will begin working on a compare and contrast essay comparing and contrasting the two characters of Mathilde in "The Necklace" and Della in "The Gift of the Magi." It will be due on Wednesday, October 27th.

Wednesday, October 27th:

Please bring your outside reading book and your reading log to class today. We will begin working on your literary analysis.
We will go over the introductory paragraph today.

Thursday, October 28th:

We will go over some literary concepts such as theme, plot, protagonist, antagonist, the different types of conflicts, point of view, and symbols and motifs. We will also work on the second paragraph of your literary analysis.

Friday, October 29th:

Your first and second paragraphs will be due. We will then go over the third paragraph, which will deal with plot.
