WEEKLY SCHEDULE
FOR AP ENGLISH LITERATURE
DECEMBER 6, 2004

Good morning, scholars! Hope your weekend was fun, restful and productive.
Congratulations to all the fabulous singers and dancers who participated in Ms. Goldshein and Mr. Sacks’ wonderful winter production.

Now back to work on Hamlet!

Monday, December 6th:

Go over Act l of Hamlet. You will be given an open book quiz over Act l which you will take and work on at home. We will watch the Kenneth Branagh video of Act l in Hamlet.

Your Unit 4 in your vocabulary book is due today. Due to a shortage of time, this homework will count as a test. So you won’t be given a test over this. The homework is the test.

Tuesday, December 7th:

We will go over the open book Act 1 quiz. I will try to get the Barron’s edition of Hamlet which offers a modern interpretation - but you still have to read the original because the literary questions will be over the original, not the modern interpretation. We will then move on to Act ll. We will briefly do an overview of the events in Act ll; then we will watch the video of Act ll. Tonight’s homework will be read Act ll. I will give you a take home quiz over Act ll which you will complete - and yes, you will do this at home and yes, you can use your book.

The handouts from English Workshop, (fifth course), pages 173, 174, 175, 176; exercises 8, a, b, and c will be due today. It is over sentence structure. We may do a cursory going over if there is time.

Wednesday, December 8th:

We will go over the take home test of Act ll and review some of the trickier aspects of the play and read together some of the scenes in the play - you are of course, expected to have already read Act ll for homework the night before. We will then if time permits, move on to Act lll.

Thursday, December 9th:

We will do what ever catch up work is needed to be done. We will do an over view of Act lll, and then watch the video of Hamlet. The Act lll open book quiz will be given to you to take home and work on. Your home work assignment is to read Act lll.

Friday, December 10th:

Today we will go over Act lll and read some of the scenes and monologues in this act. We will also go over the take home open book quiz on Act lll.

Your homework assignment is to review Acts l, ll. and lll.

Friendly reminder: Your fourth installation of the literary terms was due last Friday and only a very tiny percentage of you turned one in. I will give you a grace period of two days to turn in the fourth installation - which will be Wednesday, December 8th. The fifth and final literary terms installation is due on Wednesday, December 15th. REMEMBER, AFTER DECEMBER 15TH NO MORE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED.
