Monday, April 18th:
Go over the weekend’s reading of MADAME BOVARY (up to page 106). Discussion of determinism.
Analysis of and discussion of student response essays to Henry James’ WASHINGTON SQUARE.
Go over handout on Friday. Read and analyze the excerpt in terms of the prompt.
English Workshop: The Complete Course; “Adverbial Clauses”; pages 177-178; exercise 4. This will be due on Wednesday, April 20th.
Tuesday, April 19th:
Shortened day!
Read up to page 130 for Tuesday, April 19th, in MADAME BOVARY. Discussion of writing techniques, historical background, societal influences, determinism.
Let’s skip the vocabulary tests until after the AP test in May. But your homework will be worth two grades rather than one. Let’s move on to Unit 7 in the vocabulary book. Those of you who did Unit 7 rather than Unit 6, please do Unit 6 this week. This will be due on Tuesday, April 26th.
Wednesday, April 20th:
Read up to page 165 for Wednesday, April 20th in MADAME BOVARY.
Your grammar homework will be due; English Workshop: The Complete Course; “Adverbial Clause”; pages 177-178; exercise 4.
In class writing assignment on prose excerpt.

We all deserve a break! Today we are going to the Mark Taper Forum to see ELECTRICIDAD. Please meet at the Hawthorne Gate at 9 am. Please remember to either bring money or a sack lunch today.
