Monday, May 22nd:

Finish reading excerpt from The Things They Carried. We will then read some WWl poetry in the textbook, England in Literature. And then of course, plunge into All Quiet on the Western Front.


Tuesday, May 23rd:

If I can get the DVD we will watch a little of A Very Long Engagement. And of course, read and discuss All Quiet on the Western Front. Please bring your vocabulary book to class today. We will go over some words from the book.


Wednesday, May 24th:

Continue reading and discussing All Quiet on the Western Front. We may do “hot seat” as a culminating assignment for the novel so start writing questions and answers for the main characters. Please bring your grammar book so that we can go over some problem areas in our writing. I may assign some of you additional work in the grammar book.


Thursday, May 25th:

Hot seat for All Quiet on the Western Front when we finish the novel.


Friday, May 26th:

The next novel we will do will be Heart of Darkness. We will watch Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now as an adjunct to the novel.
