Today is not a shortened day.

Again, you will have about ten minutes of class time to work together in your groups on the figurative language assignment. Remember: make it good, make it educational and make it interesting. DON’T BORE US - only I get to do that.

Your essay on Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale is due today.

We will then break into groups and continue reading and working on Aristotle’s Poetics.

We will begin with our first figurative language presentation today: Wilton and Chrystal will do haiku and symbolism.

I will check out Vocabulary Workshop: Level F and assign Unit One. This will be due on Tuesday, September 19th.

We will begin presenting sections of Aristotle’s Poetics to the class. The presentations may include posters, handouts, graphs, drawings, cartoons, and/or re-enactments to illustrate points made by Aristotle. You must include some tangible material (see the above) in your presentation in order to get a good grade.

We will have our second figurative language presentation today: Charisma and Ti'Onae will do chiasmus and aphorism.

We will also continue our Poetics presentations today.

I will check out your English Workshop today. I will give you a handout on complements which will be
due on Monday, September 18th.

Friday, September 15, 2006:

And we will conclude with our Poetics presentations today. If we have time, we will begin working on Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”.
