We will read pages 26 - 25 in our BEOWULF handout and a brief in-class writing assignment will be given comparing and contrasting two of the four translations of the description of Grendel’s home. So today, I would like for you to either read ANTIGONE, if you haven’t read it or have forgotten what it is about, or begin working on your essay which will be due on Wednesday, October 17th, when I return. The essay topic for OEDIPUS REX (which is due October 17th) is: How well does Sophocles’ OEDIPUS REX conform to Aristotle’s POETICS? It should be at least two pages long and include specific references to both Aristotle’s POETICS and Sophocles’ OEDIPUS REX.
