FOR THE
WEEK OF NOVEMBER 26TH - NOVEMBER 30TH

Monday, November 26th:

Your Act 1 open book test is due today. We will go over the questions, and a few of the monologues in Act 1, particularly Polonius's words of advice to Laertes and his admonishment to his daughter, Ophelia. We will also discuss what the ghost told Hamlet. Should he believe the ghost? Why or why not? Plus some interesting tidbits about Shakespeare and the first productions of Hamlet.

The literary tropes wheel will be given to you. The "wheel" is a handout which you will fill out with the play's themes and the literary tropes which support them. We will go over them in class today so you will know how to fill out the wheel as we read the play.


Tuesday, November 27th:

Your Act 2 open book test will given to you today. It will be due when we finish reading Act 2. We will begin reading Act 2 and watching the video of Kenneth Branagh's HAMLET.

Please bring your grammar book, WARRINER'S ENGLISH GRAMMAR and COMPOSITION (complete course) to class today; pages 52 - 59; exercises 1 and 2, will be assigned. This will be due on Thursday, November 29th.


Wednesday, November 28th:

A short handout deciphering Shakespeare's language will be given to you, which we will quickly go over. Then we will continue reading Act 2 and of course, watching the video.

Thursday, November 29th:

The grammar homework is due today which we will go over. Today we will also go over pages 153, 154, 155, 156, exercise 19, "Active/Passive Voice" in the grammar book, WARRINER'S ENGLISH GRAMMAR (complete course) and will be due on Tuesday, December 4th.

We will continue reading Act 2 today and watching the video.


Friday, November 30th:

Unit 3 from your vocabulary book will be assigned today and will be due on Thursday, December 6th.

We will continue reading Act 2 of HAMLET; please remember that the test will be due when we finish reading the second act.
