MONDAY, OCTOBER 6TH:

First ten minutes break into groups to work on literary terms presentations.

I mentioned on Thursday and posted on last week’s web log to read OEDIPUS AT COLONUS over the weekend. I am counting on you to do that because we will break into groups of three to analyze the play in terms of character development, themes, and motifs.

Break into groups of three:

Analyze OEDIPUS AT COLONUS for:

Character development of Oedipus and Creon
Themes of OEDIPUS AT COLONUS
Motifs of OEDIPUS AT COLONUS

At 12:10 we will gather into a socratic circle to discuss and analyze the play.


TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH:

Shortened Day!

A prompt will be given to you today over the play OEDIPUS AT COLONUS. The essay will be due on Friday, October 10th.

Prompt:

Compare and contrast the character of Oedipus in OEDIPUS REX and the much older Oedipus of COLONUS. How do they differ? How are they the same?

First presentation of literary terms:

Alex, Jazmyne, Daisy: Satire, Euphemism, Haiku

Literary examples of Satire, Euphemism and Haiku.

For homework tonight, please read ANTIGONE.

Second presentation of literary terms:

Caitlin, Yana and Harut: Denouement, Synecdoche and Metonymy

Go over literary examples of Denouemnt, Synecdoche and Metonymy




THURSDAY, OCTOBER 9TH:

NO SCHOOL TODAY IN OBSERVANCE OF YOM KIPPUR



FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10TH:

Your OEDIPUS AT COLONUS essay is due today.
