Break into groups of three; read the four translated passages; create a story board for the one you like the most and find the most descriptive.
Gallery walk of storyboards.
For individual homework: write essay (minimum of five paragraphs) on the translation you like the most, giving examples of figurative language and the purpose and the effect the writer had for using those examples of figurative language.

Read and keep a journal!

FOR HOMEWORK: Answer the following questions under “Think and Discuss: Analyzing”, numbers 4 and 5, and please answer the following question under “Extending”, number 9. Please do “Applying: Metaphor”, numbers 1, 2, and 3 and “Composition: Describing a Monster’s Lair.”

For classwork: Break into groups of three or four; storyboard the “Monster’s Lair”. Do gallery walk.
For homework: do “Composition: Describing a Monster’s Lair.”

Read and discuss BEOWULF. What we don’t finish today please finish over the weekend.
For homework: please answer number 9 under “Analyzing” on page 48; on page 49 under “Foreshadowing”, answer questions 1 and 2; questions 1, 2, and 3 under “Reading Literature Skillfully”, and “Etymology”. This will be due on Wednesday, November 12th.
