Read and discuss the bio of Mary Shelley
Begin reading FRANKENSTEIN
Please keep a journal of your reading; this should include a brief summary; vocabulary plus the definitions; examples of figurative language and how it's used; and examples from FRANKENSTEIN that show the Romantic influences.
Please be aware we will not read a great deal of this book in class. There may be the reading of a few selected passages and discussion of plot points, and character and literary aspects of the book, but the majority of the reading must be done at home.

Read and discuss the bio of Percy Bysshe Shelley
Read and discuss "Ode to the West Wind"
Break into groups of three and select a passage and illustrate (draw)) the passage; write the passage below the illustration as a caption.
Break into groups of three and analyze "Ode to the West Wind" for structure, theme, metaphor, similes, imagery, and any other literary devices you can find.
Please continue reading FRANKENSTEIN and keep a journal of your readings. Any questions or comments you have about the book will be addressed at the beginning of the class.

The groups will present their analysis of "Ode to the West Wind"
The dancers and singers in the class will present their interpretation of the poem through music and dance.
Essay: Write an analytical essay exploring how Shelley uses literary devices to invoke the spirit and theme of "Ode to the West Wind". This should be a minimum of two pages and will be due on Monday, March 28th.

Read and discuss "Ozymandias", "To Wordsworth", and "England in 1819"
Read and discuss the biography of Lord Byron
Read and discuss "She Walks in Beauty"
Read and discuss "The Romantic Era"
