WEEKLY AGENDA FOR A.P. ENGLISH LITERATURE

Monday, December 12h:

Break into pairs and analyze Act 2, Scene 2; page 97; lines 246 – 255; the scene between Hamlet and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern discussing fortune. Some questions you may wish to ask are: What is fortune? What is fortune compared to? What is the extended metaphor? From this, what might we infer Hamlet’s attitude is toward fortune, luck, chance and destiny?

Skip to page 99; lines 275 – 285; pair up and analyze for meaning and figurative language.

Discuss pages 103 – 105 regarding the children’s theatre, which was at the time undermining many adult theatres.

For tonight:

Read Act 2, Scene 2 from page 109 to the end of the act. If you are not reading Folger’s, then read from the entrance of the players to the end of the act.
