Shortened Day

Your complete packet will be due today, including questions for “Song” and “The Bait”; “Song”; page 284; questions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and “Hyperbole”, questions 1 and 2. “The Bait”, questions 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Read and answer multiple-choice questions over Francis Bacon's “Of Superstition”.

Wednesday, February 29th:

Your outline for “The Age of Reason” is due today.

Read “A Modest Proposal”; Answer questions 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9 and under “Reviewing: Irony”, questions 1, 2, and 3.

Write a brief composition for COMPOSTION: Analyzing Swift’s Use of Irony

This will be due on Friday, March 2nd.

Thursday, March 1st:

Read the biography of Mary Wollstonecraft and A VINDICATION of the RIGHTS OF WOMAN; answer questions 1 – 10 under “Understanding”, “Analyzing” and “Extending” on page 447. This is due on Monday, March 5th.

Friday, March 2nd:

Go over in class released essay question from MIDDLEMARCH by George Eliot. Read and analyze the excerpt and the students’ released essays. You will be writing a timed essay on this prompt some time next week.
