Monday, December 11th:


What good news does Voltemand bring?
Old Norway thought that Fortinbras was planning an attack against Poland, but when he looked deeper into it,  he discovered actually Fortinbras was actually planning an attack against Denmark.  Fortinbras was seeking to avenge his father’s death and humiliation.
Old Norway sends an arrest warrant out on Fortinbras.
Rebuke: to scold
After Fortinbras promised he would never do that again, Old Norway gave him 3, 000 crown and allowed him to keep the men he had hired as soldiers in order to invade Poland.  Now Old Norway is asking permission for Fortinbras to cross Denmark to go to Poland.

What are some of the examples of Polonius doing the very thing he does not want to do in his speech to the king and queen on page 71 – 72?
He rambles and doesn’t get to the point, but claims he will be brief.

What conclusion does Polonius jump to as the reason for Hamlet’s behavior?
