AP ENGLISH WEEKLY AGENDA FOR DECEMBER 1st - DECEMBER 5th Monday, December 1st: I hope you had a wonderfully fun-filled and relaxing Thanksgiving break. Now, back to work! November 24th - November 26th AP English Weekly Agenda Monday, November 24th: Watch tape of last year’s vocabulary projects. (Yes, I found them!) November 17th - November 21st AP English Monday, November 17th: Review writing principles: essay structure Brief discussion of Elizabeth Bishop’s “Pink Dog” and some final thoughts on OEDIPUS. Pass out “Unscrambling Adverbial Clauses”. This will be due on Wednesday, November 19th. Read ENGLAND IN LITERATURE: Christopher Marlowe; pages 265 and 266. Tuesday, November 18th: Shortened Day! Break into groups of four, choose five vocabulary words from Unit 2, create a song and dance number or a skit using the words and conveying the meaning of the words. You will have about fifteen minutes of class time to work on this with your group. These will be presented on Friday, November 21st. November 10th - 14th AP ENGLISH AGENDA Monday, November 10th: Please bring your vocabulary book to class today. Unit 2 will be assigned and will be due on Friday, November 14th. Please write the words, the definitions, the synonyms and antonyms. You only have to write the correct words for “Completing the Sentence” and “Choosing the Right Words”, but please write out the synonyms and antonyms, underline the italicized words and write the vocabulary words. Break into groups of three and read the four translated passages from BEOWULF. Choose the one your group likes the best and storyboard it: illustrate it and write the passage underneath the illustration. Tuesday, November 11th: No school today in observance of Veterans’ Day. WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR AP ENGLISH LITERATURE NOVEMBER 3rd - 7th Monday, November 3rd: Your “Unscrambling Adjective Clause” handout is due today. Pass out the Sentence Pattern Handout. Go over periodic sentences. Using your words from Unit One Vocabulary, please write five sentences using periodic construction. Today you will receive the packet for BEOWULF which we will begin reading. (And no, Grendel's mother does not look like Angelina Jolie.) Please take notes while you are reading BEOWULF: a brief summary; any unfamiliar words, or any figurative language. Pay attention to syntax and write down any interesting syntax you may notice in the story. Go over last night’s reading of BEOWULF. Tuesday, November 4th: Shortened Day! There will be a brief writing assignment comparing and contrasting four translated passages from BEOWULF. Please read the next ten pages from where we finish in class.
